Plaid and Puppies

I know that I promised cats here, and trust me, I will deliver but I assume that there will be no objections to puppies today. This Christmas my family grew yet again with the addition of Shatzi the puppy. Why name her Shatzi? Well, there was a lot of backlash against that name after everyone started calling her “Schlotzsky’s”. But in the end, “Shatzi” still came out on top.  It means “darling” in German which my mom thought was fitting for a dachshund!

What’s really extra special about Shatzi joining the family is that our older dog, Shelby, is her biological grandmother. Shelby used to be a mommy dog at a breeder before we adopted her, so there are still a lot of little Shelby babies running around in the world. They’re pretty stinkin’ adorable together.

Today Shatzi is 11 weeks old and has been with us for 3 weeks, so it was time for some shots for the poor little girl. Let me start out by saying that I am so not a pants girl. I would rather be in a dress, skirt, or jeggings any day. I don’t know what it is, but I always felt like pants and jeans weren’t my thing. However, I made an exception with these plaid ankle pants from loft that I found on sale! I just love plaid for cooler weather.

Welcome to Oats and Bows!

Hello all! My name is Michelle, and welcome to Oats and Bows!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I wanted to start out by saying how excited I am to finally be starting this blog. I had a blog in college for a good while, but it fell by the wayside when life got in the way. I want to carry over a lot of the same elements from my old blog, but introduce some new aspects as well. Since I’ve left my old blog, I have graduated college earning my degree in Emerging Media and Communications… woohoo! My major was heavily focused on digital media, and creativity, thus I’m missing my creative outlet. So here I am! Starting my post college life and excited to be creating my own content again!

So, you may have already picked up on some context clues from my header, but some of the content that I will be posting on here will indeed be health related. You can read a little bit more about my health background in my about me. Basically, I want to be able to share some healthy recipes, health tips, and crossfit related things here and there but that’s not really what this is strictly about.

What about the cat thing? Yes. I’m one of those people. But let’s face it, if this is going to be a predominately style and fashion related blog, my cats are the most stylish thing about me. I mean, come on, they’re persians. I can only hope to be 1/8th as fancy as they are. Plus they do pretty adorable things and are quite the crowd pleasers, and if you already follow me on instagram or we’re friends at all, you know this to be true. White and fluffy is Fonzie, and orange and spastic is Oliver.

Even though I really want these other elements of my life to shine through, I mainly want to be sharing my outfits and style on this blog. Not only is fashion one of my own creative outlets, but it’s my favorite blog topic when I’m reading other blogs! So why don’t we just get into it with my first outfit post?
